Brandy who is being adopted by her foster family!  

Thanks everyone who has followed her blog.  We just could not give her up, she is home.

A chance to run....

For the last month Brandy has had to stand on the sidelines while the other dogs in the house get to run and play off lead in the fenced yard.  She stands back when everyone goes out because she knows that she is not going to be allowed to join in.  Because of Brandy's fragile nails, we have been very careful about letting her get too rowdy so she has only just recently been allowed off lead to explore the yard on her own. Her nails look really good so today she got to go out with the others.  You could see the look on her face when she realized that she was being invited for a game of chase and she had a ball. 

Brandy wants to know.....

If you know that you are not allowed on the furniture or bed does it make you a bad dog if you do it when no one notices?

How did you spend this dreary Saturday afternoon?

My husband has a brain injury and has the hardest time remembering Brandy’s name.  He is a walking cookie jar so Brandy will answer to just about anything he calls her because she knows that there is usually a cookie involved.  “Pretty Girl”, “new dog”, “hey you” … all work.  When he gets tired of trying to remember he asks me her name.   

Me - “you drink it”

Him - …”oh that’s right!”

Him - “Whiskey, come get a cookie”

 

It’s all good……

Hi Everybody,
Brandy is staying with us for a few weeks while her favorite foster family is out of town.  She is the most awesome dog!  She snuggles, gives kisses, gets along with all the other critters in the house and is ready to move in and be your best friend.

Brandy has a condition called SLO -  Symmetrical Lupoid Onchodystrophy.  This condition has caused all of her toe nails to fall off.  After the amazing tlc from her foster family and being on a treatment protocol for the last several  months,  her nails are all growing back. She is doing really well however, she may need to be on some type of treatment/prevention for the rest of her life. So, she is not perfect, her nails are a little gnarly but, her heart is huge, her eyes are bright and full of love, she will make you laugh when she runs through the house throwing toys in the air. You will stop what you are doing to pet her when she shoves her nose in between you and your computer keyboard.  You will feel the love when you sit on the floor and she comes over and melts on your lap.   Just because she is a bit of a special needs dog she should not be overlooked. 

Raindrops on Raincoats

The concierge at this vacay home thought it was raining too much yesterday for me to go out without wearing a raincoat.

 

  I was like "really?"

 

 

I hopped in da car all by myself, cuz dats what I do.  Den we went for a ride in the car to a locally owned pet store. I still wasn't sure about dis raincoat ting.

 

Does da fish on the raincoat make mah butt look big?    BOL!!!  (Bark Out Loud)

 

 

 

We got into da pet store dough and everyone came over and loved on me and petted on me and told me how good and pretty I was!  I got lots of attentions!  I sniffed lots of things too.  When da concierge thought I was sniffin too much she said "leave it" and I did.  I have good manners.

 

After we left da pet store I hopped back in da car all by myself.  I was excited to go to the next place!!

 

 

 

We went a couple more places to meet more people and I got a lot more lovins!  It was good.  Maybe dis raincoat isn't so bad after all.

 

On da way back to da vacay home I was very tired from all da funs.  Drifting off to snooze I was tinkin about my forever home and da trips I'll take and da errands I'll run with them.

Playing and Planning a Field Trip!

Hewwo again everybody!

Da udder greyhounds at dis vacation house are very nice, and I like them okay.  But da little girl greyhound brought me dis, expecting me to play wif it!

 

 

I told her I wasn't going to play wif a sock!  Dat's not for stealing and playins!  Toys and stuffies are for playins!

 

 

Dis is much better!  A big furry bunny!  (You can see dat silly little girl greyhound in the back of dis picture.  She was just playin, I don't tink she was tryin to photobomb.)

 

I'm told that on Sunday we're going on a field trip!  A Meet n Greet in Millersville, Maryland, at Dogtoberfest at da Fieldstone Animal Inn, 174 Obrecht Road.  I'll be dere wif some friends from 11 - 2!

 

 

Please come meet me dis Sunday or just fill out an application.  As much as I like foster and vacay homes, I really need my Furever Family to love.

A Post Card From My Vacay Home!

Hewwo everybody!

I've been at mah vacation home for a couple of days and I'm havin funs!  There are two other greyhounds here who are vewwy nice, and we all share beddies and toys quite well. 

We've been on lots of short walks and have said hewwo to all the neighbows.  Everyone says how preddy and well behaved I am. 

But the best ting about this house is dat they have PEANUT BUTTER!

Vacay!

Hi friends,

So my foster parents are off on vacation soon and guess what - I get to go on my very own holibobs too!

The best part is I get two new greyhound friends to stay with, I can't wait to meet them. What an adventure!

Topping up my tan!

Hi Friends!

Some people say being tanned can give you a healthy glow and I'm inclined to agree. My foster home has a convenient morning sunspot. As long as this sunshine is lasting I'm making the most of it!

I also have to look my best for the DogFest in Baltimore this afternoon - I'm so happy to meet new people and show them what greyhounds are all about!

Fun at the Meet and Greet!

 Hi peeps,

I had such a greyt afternoon at the Meet and Greet yesterday! Foster mom told me it was my job to be an "ambassador for greyhounds" as well as continuing the search for my forever family. Well, no problems there of course, I know how to work a crowd. I couldn't believe how many people came to give me pettin's and I made sure everyone had a turn. I'm all about sharing the love.

I also wanted  to give a special thank you to Aunt Terry for the wonderful catering service as always. Meeting all those people is hungry work! Ignore that silly fawn photo-bombing in the foreground (my foster sister is always trying to get in on the act...).

Someone to snuggle with....

Hi everyone,

It's me again, Brandy!

I came back to my foster family a few weeks ago through no fault of my own and boy I have been having a greyt time! I've had a couple of medical issues to overcome but I've put that behind me now and it certainly hasn't stopped me living life to the full! I'll just pick a couple of the highlights to tell you about for now.

Did I mention before that I'm a serious socialite? I made a whole bunch of new friends my first weekend here when my foster parents hosted a cheese and wine party, but that was just the beginning of a busy social calendar for me. I wasn't allowed any cheese but I did get lots of pettings which is just as good! Another 'fawn' and I hit it off straight away....

I've also been hanging out with my four-legged friends of course. This weekend we met up with my foster sister's local crowd for a greyhound pack walk. I had a greyt time hanging out with them. That's me behind the little chap in the orange shirt, he was really quite charming! Little dogs are great too, we meet Shelby the corgi puppy on our morning walks most days.

 We had a nice afternoon chilling out on the deck today too, margaritas in hand. The afternoon's entertainment consisted of birdie and squirrel watching - very enjoyable!

All this socializing and squirrel watching is hard work though. I like to spend several hours a day letting the blood go back to my body and head - roaching is all about good circulation. I also roach to let my PAs (aka foster parents) know I want belly rubs. If they stop I wiggle and wiggle until they carried on! They're easily trained...

  Sometimes I get so relaxed my tongue doesn't even want to stay in by itself...

 at least it's color coordinated with my collar.

I just know there's someone out there who wants to snuggle and have fun together! If that person is you, have your people contact my people at GEGR and let's meet! (I heard that there's an adoption day this weekend - what perfect timing!)

Hi again people!

So you got a taster yesterday. Let me introduce myself a bit more. My foster mom says I’m a sweet, happy and easy-going girl – I really am! I have a waggy tail to prove it. I just love people, especially when they give me pettings. I get on really well with my foster sister Kensy too – she looks just like me (that's me on the right with the perky ears).

Did I mention I’m fully house-broken? Check. A stair master? Check. Excellent on the leash? Check! Which is a good job because I love going on walks – so many sniffs to sniff! Other dogs don't bother me either.

I got my roaching balance this time!

 Hi it's me, Brandy! I'm already a pro at this retirement thing and settled right in at my new foster home.

Let me show you what I've been getting up to:

I just love the squeaky toys! Mr Squirrel is my favorite.

Sleeping is my main pastime (foster mom says us greyhounds sleep for up to 20 hours a day - but I'm too busy napping to keep track...)

Here's me trying to lie on my back (the humans call this "roaching"!) I couldn't really get my balance on the carpet though...

It's fun here but I'm really looking for a home to call my own. Could it be with you? Do you need a sweet face like this in your life?
